Seth’s Perspective
Thanks to Che, my day started out like shit. After he left to go to work at the Candle Factory, BA and I sat down and caught up. She was madder than hell, I apologized for Che, but made no excuses for him… there were none. She was doing her best to let it go. “Well, gulldarnit, I was in a great mood this mornin’ after hearing I’m gonna have two new grandbabies. I aint gonna let that punk ruin it.”
I took her lead, “I know TWO little girls!!!” I said with excitement.
“Are y’all still meetin’ us at BroMax Farm to help get the nursery ready for ‘em?” BA asked. “I told the boys what we were doin’ and they were grateful. They have some stuff in the attic, and they ordered doubles of everything online and expedited the shippin’, it’s all supposed to show up at the house today.”
“Yeah, Max asked me to keep an eye out for it” I responded.
“The plan is to assemble all the gear and get the room set up. But I aint paintin’, Brody will hate any color I pick out” she half joked. “They can do that later.”
“I’ll come by after I feed the kids.”
“How’s my oldest grandbaby boy doin’” BA asked.
“He’s fine, he and Freddy are loving life spending 24/7 together” I said, then showed her the video of the boys in the Lamborghini, she laughed out loud. We talked for a while and she seemed to have forgotten the run in with Che. Rodney came in and joined us and BA told him all the stories from her trip. The rest of the day was spent with our noses to the grindstone getting work done. River came in for his session at noon.
“Seth, I’m sorry about this weekend” River said sheepishly.
I gave him a nod to acknowledge the apology (which frankly should have come from Che). “So, what’s really going on with you two… do you feel safe with him?” I had asked the question a little less directly in our first meeting, but I still wasn’t convinced.
“I AM safe with him, Seth” River said with conviction, “Yeah, he’s pissed off at the world, but he really is good to me.” I probed deeper and asked a lot of questions until River convinced me. Che was angry at the world, but he loved River and took care of him.
“How’s the new job going?” I asked.
“I love it! I’m working in the retail store with Mason” he answered with a big smile.
“And the apartment?”
“I love that too. I feel safe there” I believed him. So, then we got down to business and talked about a plan forward, putting money away, figuring out what he wanted to do for a living. River wanted to get his high school diploma, maybe even go to trade school or college. I turned him over to Rodney to talk about resuming his education, but before I did, I warned him that he and Che were on thin ice.
I was honest with River, “listen, if Che’s attitude doesn’t change you guys may be back on the streets. If he keeps up the attitude, you’re gonna have to choose between being with him or getting the help you need.”
River looked down as he pondered what I had said, then he spoke. “You have him all wrong, Seth. He’s afraid of what my father will do to us if he finds us and he’s not convinced you’re not on my father’s side… he thinks everyone is on my father’s side because back home they are” I understood what he was saying, but I also called bull shit. Che’s attitude extended to EVERYONE. His little verbal attack on BA in the parking lot (attacking an innocent woman) had nothing to do with his fear of River’s father, his bullying of Cay at work (preying on the seemingly weak) had nothing to do with his fear of River’s father.
“I hear what you’re saying, but he needs to start respecting the people around him if you guys want to stay” I said sternly. “I want to help you both, but I see Che as a threat to the other’s we serve… that can’t happen. Do you understand?” River nodded. When we finished up, he spent some time with Rodney to talk about school, saving, moving forward, etc. I had no doubt river would do well… IF Che let him.
Later that day Che came in for his session, serendipitously I was in the lobby talking to Taylor who was dropping off some paperwork for Zach’s new car. I had been wracking my brain about how to get through to Che (Mister ‘I’ve had it worse that everybody in the world,)’ maybe the answer was right in front of me… Taylor. Maybe it took a villager to get through to a villager… right? I sent Che into the therapy room to wait. “Hey Taylor,” I said quietly so Che couldn’t hear, “do you have a few minutes to talk to Che and share your story?” Taylor was very open about his past and how The Village helped him turn things around, in fact he had spoken to several different prospective donors about what we had done for him. He was like a living advertisement for The Village.
“Always. What’s the deal?” Taylor asked and I told him about our issues with Che, specifically not trusting or respecting anyone, and how I was afraid River was going to get screwed in the process if Che didn’t shape up. Then, I took Taylor into the therapy room, introduced them, and just left them alone. Taylor was in there with Che for about a half hour before he opened the door and said, “Tell Zach to enjoy the new wheels” winked at me, gave BA a hug and headed out.
I entered the therapy room where Che sat slouched in a chair. Before I could speak, he looked at me and said, “I’m sorry for bein’ disrespectful… okay a dick, I know you’re all just tryna’ help us.” His arms were crossed and his body language closed, but his words seemed sincere. Like he still wanted to fight us, but deep down he knew he should trust us… trust isn’t an easy thing for some people to give.
“Thank you” I responded and decided to leave it at that. “How’s the job going?” I asked.
“Okay, I guess. It’s a job” he said with the same shitty attitude. Then he paused, unfolded his arms, and sat upright in the chair. “Actually, it’s a good job, I like it. The guys there are tryna’ be nice.”
“Trying?” I asked. That’s when he let his guard down.
“I know I don’t make it easy. But shit, Seth. River’s dad… that fucker don’t play. Back home he would get to everybody… teachers would gimme detention, flunk me on tests, and blame me for shit I didn’t do. I had a job at the hardware store and he told the owner I was stealin’ so he fired me. The cops would pull me over randomly and say I was speedin’ when I wasn’t, and shit like that. I couldn’t trust people for shit back home. Every time I did, that fucker burned me. River’s the ONLY one I could trust.” For the first time since we met, Che was being open and honest with me. “Tay convinced me that you guys are straight up. I’m gonna try.” After that we had a good heart to heart talk and I could understand why he didn’t trust anyone. It sounded like River’s dad ran that county and was out to get Che. I started to feel for the kid, up until that point, he had literally no one on his side other than River. No wonder he was so distrustful, and… well scared (whether he admitted or not).
For the most part, I just listened to him. When he was done, I said, “It sounds like he made life pretty rough for you.” Che nodded, “Kinda like you’re doing to Cay” I pointed out. Che had held eye contact with me up until then, he looked down.
“I felt like shit, helpless, I dunno, pickin’ on him made me feel in control or somethin’ I guess” he said.
I felt bad for the guy. Che was tough, he was independent, and River’s father made him feel weak and helpless. Bullying made him feel less helpless… it sucked, but I understood. “Well, it stops now. Okay?” I said. He nodded and agreed. “And… I’m sorry I called you a dick.”
Che laughed, “Well, I WAS bein’ a dick… I’m sorry” I had to admit, it was a productive session.
After our session, Che exited the therapy room and went through the reception area where BA was. He walked right up to her desk and said, “Mam, I apologize for my earlier behavior.” It was a simple apology, a sincere apology he made while looking her in the eye.
BA was a hard ole bird, but she was good people. She stood up, walked around her desk, and hugged him. I heard her quietly whisper in his ear, “I forgive ya’ darlin’, just don’t mess with this old bitch again, ya hear?” I heard him let out another ‘yes mam.’ Before she let him go.
I left shortly after that to run carpool and take the kids home to feed them. Zach came home from work about an hour later with a big smile on his face still on a high from driving his new car. He took over for me with the kids so I could go over to BroMax and help get the house ready for the two new arrivals.
Me, Dylan, BA, and Daddy were buried in a sea of boxes, bolts, nuts, and pieces of baby furniture as we assembled everything Max and Brody would need to welcome our two newest villagers when Brody called me to let us know they were releasing the babies in the morning. The guys were spending the night in Atlanta and heading home the next morning. They already had two baby seats installed in the second row of the minivan to bring Abigail Harrington-James, and Olivia Harrington-James home to BroMax Farm. He shared the plan for telling Teddy, I wanted to be there so bad… I knew he’d flip the frig out!
“Grammaw would love them bringin’ two more babies into this old house” Daddy said.
“Oh hail, that old bird would love all of this” BA added. “Brody and Max raisin’ they’re family here, their friends livin’ just across the road raisin’ their family, all you boys helpin’ the kids y’all help. She woulda’ been smack-dab in the middle of all.”
Daddy laughed, “every damn villager, and every damn kid around here would have knitted mittens and hats comin’ out their ears if she were still alive.”
“Hell, me n’ Brody each had like 20 sets each” Dylan laughed. The three told stories about Grammaw while we got the old farmhouse ready for the two new arrivals. We assembled everything and cleaned the house from top to bottom. Before we knew it, it was 11:00 O’clock, the house was spotless, we had two cribs, a dresser, and two changing tables put together and set-up in what used to be the spare bedroom. We had also set up two bassinettes in the master bedroom. There was a lot more to do, a room to paint, more clothes and supplies to buy, but the place was ready to welcome the two new Harrington-James ladies. And their extended family couldn’t be more excited. We locked up the farmhouse and headed home.
On the way to my car, I saw lights on in the guesthouse (the former candle barn), and decided to check on Cay. I knocked on the door, he came to the door in boxers and a Tee. “Hey Seth, what are you doing here?”
“I was at the house doing some things for Max and Brody and saw your light on.”
“I was just studying for history… ugh, I hate history. Were you doing baby stuff?” He asked with a smile.
“Oh, so you know about that?”
“Yeah, Max called me earlier to tell my they were adopting a little girl” He said, then invited me in. I noticed he didn’t mention twins, so I wondered how much they told him. Man, that converted barn was amazing, it was a freaking palace for an 18 year old high school senior.
“Are you doing okay with Brody and Max gone?” I asked.
“Yeah, it’s a little lonely out here, but I’m okay. I bought some groceries yesterday and made dinner for myself” he said before going on to give me an update on everything. He seemed to be settling into adulting fairly well, I was convinced he was ready for his own place at Harrington House but was just not ready to put him in there until I could observe Che a little more. Cay had been through enough shit without having to bunk with his bully. Anyway, Cay was good, the nursery was ready (for now), and Zach had been alone with the kids for several hours, it was time to go home so I said goodnight.
Brody’s POV
“I’m sorry, but I’ve got to ask you to leave. Y’all can come back in the morning, sign the paperwork, then take your little ladies home” Nurse Nicole said sweetly. She’d been takin’ care a’ us since we arrived at the hospital two days ago.
“I cain’t look away” I said. I was entranced by the beauty of the two tiny ladies. OUR tiny, twin ladies. OUR DAUGHTERS! Day-um it all happened so fast. Me and Max weren’t on the waitin’ list but a month… they told us it could take years. We made a book and video to sell our family… I think the big sellin’ point was the video of Theo talkin’ about why he wanted a sister. We made sure he was smack-dab in the middle of the adoption process, he was on board all the way. We didn’t know much about his life before he met us, he was found abandoned as a baby and went from foster home to foster home until we found each other, that was about all we knew about his past. In the video we made he said he never had a mom and dad “Now I got TWO dads’” he said with this kid-like excitement in his eyes that could melt steel. “N’ I wanna little sister like Freddy. Freddy’s my best friend, he lives across the street with his dads, his new brother Ali, n’ his sister Izzy… she’s crazy…” he said with a giggle. Then he rambled for a good three minutes telling all about HIS friends, HIS house, HIS dog Zoey, and HIS goat Jimmy. He talked about everyone eatin’ pizza together on Fridays, our ‘doption vacation to Disney, Trips to Jungle Rapids, and all that stuff. I don’t think he paused once. He spoke from the heart and it was cute as hail. God, I loved that kid… and he is gonna love the hail outta his two sisters. He ended the video answering Maxwell’s question, ‘So, why do you want a little sister?’ with “I dunno, I just like havin’ more people to love.” Jesus H. Christ I loved that kid!
We hadn’t told him the news yet. Like I said he was smack dab in the middle of the process with us, but things moved so fast that we weren’t convinced it was real when we left North Carolina. The babies’ mother was just barely sixteen and got knocked up by some random kid she met. Her parents were good people and talked through her options. She decided she wanted to finish high school, and then college. So, after a lot of soul searchin’, she decided to have the baby and give it up for adoption… the father gleefully signed away any and all rights, according to the girl’s parents, “he didn’t want shit to do with any baby’ which was awesome for us. The mother picked out what she thought was a great couple as her first choice for her babies’ parents… apparently, they were a great couple until the husband caught his wife of three years in bed with another guy and abruptly ended the marriage and pulled out of the adoption. Her second choice backed out when they found out that the baby was TWO babies … two mixed race babies… apparently, they wanted one white baby and nothing else. So, enter family number three; the two financially stable country queers with the cutest damn six year old beggin’ for a baby girl and freakin’ delighted to have a chance to welcome two of ‘em no matter what their race. We knew we had made the short list; we also knew there were two families ahead of us so we figured we didn’t stand a chance… then the gotdamned stars aligned and there we were at a hospital in Atlanta, hypnotized by two tiny miracles with light brown skin and curly brown hair. Max said their hair looked like mine, just a little darker.
“You could pass as their biological father” Maxwell said with a chortle.
“Well, Mr. Lilly-white ginger, you cain’t” I laughed back.
“C’mon we gotta go” Maxwell said as he wrapped his arms around me from behind and gazed into the nursery window one last time. “Let’s go to the hotel and get some sleep for the long ride home. Tomorrow they’re ours.” We were taking them home in the mornin’ after we signed a few more documents and paid the hospital bills (a small price to pay). The mother had been released earlier but they wanted to keep the girls overnight… they were so tiny. Her parents asked if they could come back in the morning to say goodbye to their granddaughters. Like I said… good people. We had agreed to an open adoption. Hail, we would’ve agreed to anything’ for the honor of bein’ those babies parents.
“Get out already before you guys get me in trouble” Nurse Nicole joked. “I’ll take good care of them, I promise.” As we turned to leave, she yelled, “Hey! And congratulations Daddies.” We kinda expected the whole hospital experience to be awkward, but people were great to us.
On the ride to the hotel, we talked about how to share the news with Teddy. We decided to pick him up from school with the babies in the minivan and surprise him. We called Seth to tell him the plan. He was with my family puttin’ together all the baby gear we had shipped to the house. We originally told them not to do anything, but when we learned it was twins… we kinda panicked and decided to take all the damn help we could get. Before we hung up, Seth made us promise to wait to introduce Teddy to his sisters until he got there. Our whole gang was so excited for us. These babies would be loved!
When we got to the hotel, I was so damn pumped up I couldn’t sleep.
“Let’s put that adrenaline to use” Maxwell growled as he pulled me to him and lifted my polo over my head. “This might be the last alone time we get for the next eighteen years.”
“I can’t believe we have two daughters” I said in total disbelief. This hot, muscle ginger was strippin’ me nekkid, and all I could think about was gettin’ our two girls home to meet their big brother. I wasn’t payin’ too much attention as Max unbuckled my belt, then undid my jeans and dropped them to the floor, the clank of my belt buckle hittin’ the floor brought me back to reality. When I snapped out of it, I realized I was standin’ there with nuthin’ but my socks on, dick to dick with the sexiest muscle ginger in the whole gotdamn world. When I first met Maxwell, he was this skinny little college sophomore livin’ with two other guys, but I knew there was somethin’ special ‘bout him. I was so damn antisocial back then. If it weren’t for Seth forcin’ me to socialize I woulda’ probably died alone. I mean, in the south they expect y’all to get married n’ have a mess a’ kids… that sounded great to me, but I knew I was queer. So, I just figured I’d die alone. Well, life called bull shit on that and there we were.
I put an arm around Maxwell’s waist and pulled him closer. I could feel the heat from his red rocket as it pushed against my abs. I started to get hard, him reachin’ down there and strokin’ me wasn’t hurtin’ that situation. I grabbed his meat, day-um! It was so… hefty I guess is a good word. The heat and the weight of it in my hand got my balls a’ brewin’. He started growin’ in my hand until he was harder n’ a retired high school teacher. I instinctively dropped to my knees and was face to face with his perfect cock, the red bush was like a neon sign tellin’ me to suck it. I moved forward and licked the head, then down the shaft, then on to his full, ball sac. Dear Lort in heaven! I inhaled and then I was gone. I went down on him takin’ him as deep as I could. The bluntness of his cock lodged deep down my throat got me goin’ even more. I bobbed up and down usin’ my spit to slicken him up like a slip n’ slide on a hot summer’s day. Maxwell was standin’ with his back to the bed, he sat down, spread his legs a little and I went to town like I was aboard the mother frickin’ express train!
Maxwell put his hand firmly on my head and pushed down as his hips pushed up, “There’s a good use for all that adrenaline and excitement” he whispered, I could hear the smile in his voice. We both got more into it and soon enough, I was choking’ on that one-eyed beast. My eyes were waterin’, drool was coming out of both side of my mouth, and my hand was workin’ it’s magic. Maxwell’s head was thrown back, his toes were curled, and it was clear that the cum train was about deliver its cargo when I pulled off him and stopped. “Fuck, Brodes” Maxwell cursed, “I was right fucking there” he whimpered.
“Hail yeah you were, and you’ll get there again” I said as I watched him deflate just a little before going back to work. I drove that train full steam ahead and stopped just short of the station two more times until…
“Fuck, let me come already” Maxwell begged.
“Turn over on your belly and show me that whiter n’ white ass” I said with a huge grin. He flipped almost instantly until he was bent over the bed, face down, and his teeth bitin’ into that fluffy hotel pilla’. I gave his ass an appreciative slap, then dove in and feasted on that pink hole. The little red hairs curled around my tongue as I lapped him up like I was a desert dog drinkin’ from a mirage.
“Oh my god, Daddy” Maxwell moaned, making me snicker, ‘Daddy’ Ha! I thought to myself as I drove my tongue deeper.
“You ready for big daddy?” I joked.
“Hell yeah!” Maxwell almost shouted. “Fuck my brains out, Daddy!” So, I did. I pushed my hard as asphalt manhood through his perfect, wet, pink pucker. Maxwell moaned in pleasure as I slowly moved forward until my hangin’ balls slapped his pearly white ass. “Fuck me hard, Brodes, fuck me hard.” So, again… I did. I pistoned in and out of him hard and fast, Until he wailed, “Fuck I’m gonna shoot!”
“Flip over” I commanded as I pulled my cock out of his hole and smacked his ass for good measure. He moved like a damn cheetah as he flipped onto his back, his hand never leaving his cock. I bent down, pushed his hand away and took him in my mouth. I went back to work strokin’ and bobbin’ until he fed me his daddy’s milk. I nursed on every, fuckin’, warm, salty, drop. Then I cleaned that cock with my tongue, stood up, and pushed his knees to his chest and started fuckin’ him again. With the adrenaline flowing through me I fucked the HAIL outta him and shot my load deep into his guts. I pulled out of him and leaned my sweaty body onto his. We both laughed a little as we caught our breath.
We took a shower and got into the bed nekkid. My smaller body spooning his muscular frame.
The next mornin’, we were up, packed and out the door by 7AM. We went back to the nursery and stared at our two sweet, identical girls who were still safe and sound. At 8AM their biological grandparents came for a tearful goodbye (good people makin’ a hard decision). We signed the final paperwork, wrote a check for the bills, and were escorted to the Pacifica by Nurse Nicole. We thanked her for everything with a couple of hugs, buckled our most precious cargo in snuggly, and hit the road to BroMax Farm.
Abigail Harrington-James, and Olivia Harrington-James were on their way home for the first time to meet their unsuspecting big brother. I could help smilin’!
To be continued…
