Kyle
I just stared at my phone, I certainly wasn’t expecting a text from Colby. Damn it, I had just gone the whole day without thinking about him and now he’s back. I was trying to decide how to respond, or if I should at all. I guess a late thank you was better than none at all. Maybe Colby was making an effort, I suppose the least I could do was try too.
I replied, “you’re welcome.”
I waited for a few seconds to see if Colby would reply, after a minute, I turned off my phone and tried to go to sleep. I tossed and turned for over an hour, but finally fell asleep. I woke up the next morning and turned my phone back on, checking to see if Colby had sent any more texts. He hadn’t, I shook my head, why was I disappointed? It was simple, he thanked me, I answered him, there was really nothing more that needed to be said, right? I got out of bed, dressed and headed to the shop.
Luke and I filled our cups with coffee with our crew and laid out our plan for the week. After the guys left with their assignments, Luke and I discussed some other business.
When we were finished, Luke asked, “so, what did you think of Paige?”
I laughed, “I was waiting for you to ask. You can tell Olivia that we are going out again this week.”
He chuckled, “just so you know, Paige only had good things to say about you.”
I sighed, “I’m not ready to start making wedding plans yet, but am willing to see where things go.”
Luke nodded, “yeah, I’ll tell Olivia to just relax for a bit, but she thinks she is the perfect match maker.”
I raised an eyebrow, “just remind her, she was the one that introduced me to Claire.”
He rolled his eyes, “oh hell no, you can tell her that, but I have to live with her, so I have no intention of pissing her off.”
I said, “she invited me over to her place for dinner on Wednesday, so tell Olivia to give us a little time to see how things go.”
He held up his hands, “ok, ok. I got the message, but if you don’t mind, I’ll use some other words to tell her that. Again, I have to live with her.”
I laughed, “fine, tell her whatever you want. Now, can we get to work.”
We got busy in the shop, and I was able to leave a little early on Wednesday to go on my date. I went home and cleaned up and headed to Paige’s apartment.
She smiled as she answered the door, I handed her a bottle of wine as she let me in. She said, “this will go well with pasta I have made.”
We continued to get better acquainted as we ate. So far, there were still no red flags, but I still wasn’t seeing stars either. I admit, it was nice having someone to talk to, I guess I needed to keep seeing Paige and see where things go.
She said, “I just broke up with a long-term partner about two months ago. It wasn’t two days later that Olivia was bugging me about going out with you.”
I chuckled, “the same with me, I’m not sure why she thinks she has to be a match maker.”
Paige nodded, “to be honest, I’m not sure how ready I am to be in anything too serious right now. But she just wouldn’t let it go.”
I laughed again, “at least we are on the same page here.”
She smiled, “although, when I met you, I was certainly relieved. You are one of the best blind dates I have ever had.”
I blushed, “thank you, you didn’t disappoint me either. So, what should we do?”
Paige shrugged, “I am not opposed to seeing each other, just to keep Olivia off our backs. From what I know about you so far, at the very least, I would have gained a good friend.”
I smiled, “I agree with you, if as time goes by and things go further, I’m not opposed to that either.”
We finished our pasta and talked for a couple of more hours. I gave Paige a hug as I left and drove home. Paige and I would talk or text every few days and usually saw each other once a week. We went out with Luke and Olivia a few times over the next month, not telling them too much, just that we were still getting to know each other. We were down to a week before Christmas, Luke and I decided to close the shop for the whole week between Christmas and New Year’s. I was going back to Nebraska and spending the week at my parents’, Paige was going to spend the holidays with her family as well. We certainly were not at a point in our relationship to meet each other’s family.
Two days before I was planning to go home, I heard my phone signal a new text message. I assumed it would be from Paige
It was from Colby, “will you be home for Christmas?”
Shit, I hadn’t thought about him since our last text exchange, why was he texting now?
I thought for a few minutes, then replied, “yes, I am planning on it.”
While I was waiting for Colby to text back, I couldn’t help but wonder why he was asking me this.
A few minutes later my phone signaled again, “I have your money for the battery, I will get it to you when you are here.”
I never planned on him paying me back, I just wanted to do him a favor. Well, maybe not him, but it felt like I was doing for Gavin.
Not sure what else to say, I just replied, “ok.”
Damn it, Colby hadn’t crossed my mind in weeks, now he was all I was going to be able to think about until I got home.
Luke and I finished things up at the shop and sent all the guys home on December 23rd, giving us all an extra day off. We wished each other a Merry Christmas and I got in my truck to head east. The entire trip home, thoughts of Colby were floating through my mind. I still have no idea why he was getting to me, maybe if I let him pay me back for the battery, we can both get on with our lives.
I had told my folks I would be home on Christmas Eve, I was going to surprise them a day early. As I pulled into town, I stopped at the first convenience store and picked up the RC and M&Ms for my visit with Gavin. After my visit with him, I started to drive to my parents’ house. As I approached the bar that Colby worked at, I saw his ranger in the parking lot. Against my better judgement, I pulled in and parked. A quick beer sounded good after my long drive. I thought that maybe Colby would give me the money for the battery, and I could get that out of the way and maybe avoid him for the rest of my stay.
He nodded at me as I took a seat at the bar, he walked over and said, “hey, you’re home early.”
I said, “yeah, wrapped things up early at the shop and thought I would surprise the family.” He went to get the beer that I ordered and sat it in front of me.
Colby said, “I have your money, but it is back at my house.”
I took a drink, “that’s ok, you know you don’t have to pay me back.”
He shrugged, “I’ve gotten back on my feet a bit, and I don’t want to owe anyone anything.”
I sighed, “look, I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you before I bought that battery, but I’m not very good at expressing my feelings. I guess I just wanted to say I’m sorry about how I have always treated you, and that was the only way I knew how.”
He said, “I get it, and I’m sorry I wasn’t more appreciative, but it’s been a rough few months.”
I took another drink, “I know, I forget that you are grieving Gavin just as much as I am.”
Colby smiled, “yeah, I wasn’t thinking about your feelings either.”
I said, “it’s ok, you can just give me the money whenever.”
He said, “I’ll get it to you before you leave, how long are you in town?”
I replied, “I’m going back on New Year’s Day.”
Colby nodded and left to wait on another customer. The bar was pretty busy, and I saw a few people that I knew. Before long, I had been there for a few hours and had a few too many beers. I had kept watching Colby as he worked, he was a good bar tender, and all the customers really seemed to like him. I noticed he was spending a lot of time with a kid I remember from high school, Collin. Even though I had no right, I was feeling a twinge of jealousy. I had no idea if they had anything going on, I guess I should be happy for Colby that he was moving on.
I stood and stumbled to the bathroom, before I was going to head home. As I walked toward the door, the owner of the bar, Bob, stopped me and said, “whoa there buddy, I think you have had too much to drink, I can’t let you drive.”
I protested, “I’m fine.”
He laughed as he sat me down in a chair, “no, you are not. Let me call you a ride.”
Leah stepped in, “things are winding down here, Colby can drive him home.”
Colby
I was back at work full time, and had most all of my bills caught up, I tucked the hundred dollars in an envelope and wrote Kyle’s name on it. Christmas was coming up and I assumed he would be coming home, it would be a good time to get the money to him. Carla had already invited me to dinner on Christmas day, so I was going to take it with me then.
I had spent some time with Collin, but I still couldn’t bring myself to take things any further than just being friends. Other than my coworkers, Collin was the only real friend I had. Oh, my regular customers were all nice to me and I enjoyed talking to them, but I didn’t associate with any of them outside of the bar. I know Collin wouldn’t be happy with that type of relationship for long, but I just knew it was too soon for me.
As it got to the week before Christmas, I decided to make sure Kyle was coming home so I could get him his money. When he just answered my questions with no elaboration, I was both relieved and disappointed. I’m not really sure what I was expecting, so I had no reason to be disappointed. At least we could have a civil conversation, so at least that was something.
The day before Christmas Eve was usually a busy night for us. We would be closing early on Christmas Eve and all our regulars showed up for kind of our unofficial Christmas party. It was a good time, and I liked working that night because everyone seemed to be a little more generous with their tips.
I was a bit surprised when Kyle walked through the door. I assumed he would come home the next day. I took a deep breath as I waited on him and brought him a beer. We talked about when I would get his money to him, even though he told me I didn’t need to pay him back. Thankfully, he saw some friends of his and moved to a table. The server was taking their orders, so I at least didn’t have to make small talk with him.
I was so busy at the bar that I hadn’t noticed how much Kyle had to drink. It wasn’t until the end of the night when Kyle was stumbling toward the door to leave, and Bob stopped him, that I knew how drunk he was. Bob was always watching his customers, on the lookout for those that shouldn’t be driving. He was also not shy about finding them a ride home.
Bob said, “alright big man, hand me your keys.”
Kyle slurred, “I’m fine, I promise I’ll drive slow.”
Bob laughed, “that’s not the way it works around here, I want my customers to get home in one piece so they can come back another day.”
Kyle tried to argue again as Bob sat him in a chair and he pried the keys out of Kyle’s hand. It really wasn’t that hard.
I almost dropped the glass I was holding when Leah said, “Colby can leave early and drive him home, he knows where he lives.”
Bob threw me the keys, “sounds good to me, things are winding down around here, you can take off early Colby.”
I sighed as I walked by Leah, “thanks a lot.”
She grinned, “you’re welcome.”
Bob helped me get Kyle out to his truck, he was so far gone, I don’t think he even knew what was going on. Bob told me my Ranger would be fine in the parking lot for the night, and he would give me a ride in the morning to pick it up.
As I pulled out on the street, Kyle looked over at me, “where are we going?”
I said, “I’m taking you to your parents’ house.”
He shook his head, “no, I can’t go there when I’m this drunk, besides it’s too late. They will already be in bed, and I shouldn’t wake them.”
I asked, “so where do you want me to take you?”
He leaned his head against the window, “just take me to your place until I sober up a bit and then I’ll drive myself home.”
I shook my head, “fine, I’ll make you some coffee.”
Kyle must have passed out, he was still leaning against the window when I pulled into my driveway. He woke up when I opened his door.
He asked, “where are we?”
I said, “we’re at my house.”
I helped him out of the truck, I had to put my arm around him since he was so unsteady on his feet. Kyle is a little bigger than I am, which was making things even harder. We both stumbled as we got to the first step. Kyle pulled back a bit and grabbed the handrail.
I asked, “are you ok?”
He paused, his eyes barely open, he said, “I don’t feel good, I think I am going to…”
And he did, all over himself, all over the steps and all over me. There was vomit everywhere. I held him up until he was finished.
I asked, “are you done?”
He nodded, “I think so… sorry.”
I waited for a few minutes just to make sure, at least we were outside, I wouldn’t want to clean this up in the house. I had led him to the side door that entered into my laundry room. I sat Kyle on a chair and pulled his shoes off, they were also covered in puke. When I turned the light on, I could see Kyle had vomit all down the front of his clothes and I have no idea how he got it in his hair.
I chuckled, “you’re a mess dude, you need to take your clothes off and I’ll throw them right in the washer, I think you may need a shower too.”
He gave me a goofy grin that only drunk people are capable of, and saluted me, “aye, aye captain.”
I shook my head as I filled a bucket with water and washed the sidewalk off as best I could. I didn’t want the chunks to freeze, I could spread some ice melt in the morning to thaw the water if it froze.
I stepped back in to see Kyle sitting back in the chair, completely naked. I gave his body a quick scan, I know I probably shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t help it. God damn it, he was hot as hell. His light brown hair framed his face, with a two-day growth covering his square jaw. Even though I couldn’t really see them at the moment, I had always liked his chocolate brown eyes. Those eyes were a family trait, Gavin had them too. Kyle’s muscular chest had a light coat of hair that was the same color that covered his head. His abs were tight with a sexy treasure trail that led to a very nice cock and plump set of balls. Both were nicely nestled in a neatly trimmed bush. His thick legs still had the slight remainder of his summer tan and just the right amount of hair. If this wasn’t Kyle and he didn’t have puke all over his face and hair, I might have jumped him right then and there.
He opened one eye as I was staring at him, he said, “you said I should take a shower, you may have to help me walk there.”
I broke out of my daydream, and I said, “yeah, I’ll help you.”
He laughed, “sorry dude, but I got puke all over you too.”
I nodded, “yeah, I know.”
I quickly stripped, I left my underwear on, not wanting to make Kyle uncomfortable. Of course, he was too drunk to notice. Kyle put his arm around my shoulder, and I put mine around his waist as I walked him to my bedroom and into the bathroom. I couldn’t help myself as I stole several glances at Kyle’s cock as it flopped back and forth as we walked down the hall. I sat him on the toilet while I turned the water on and adjusted the temperature. I helped him to his feet and step into the shower, it was soon clear that he would fall if I let go of him. I sighed as I stepped into the shower with him, I was still in my underwear. It also became clear that Kyle wasn’t going to wash himself, he was just standing under the water, not moving.
I asked, “do you want me to wash your hair?”
He nodded, “ok.”
He leaned against the wall as I squirted some shampoo into my hand and began rubbing his head. As I was washing his hair, I inadvertently brushed against Kyle’s cock. I quickly stepped back as I rinsed the shampoo away. I then quickly washed my own hair then began rubbing body wash on Kyle’s chest and stomach. I heard Kyle moan softly as my hands danced across his body. I had to reach down and adjust my own cock, as it had started to swell. Thankfully Kyle’s eyes remained closed as I rinsed the soap from only the second naked male body that I had ever touched in my life. I quickly washed myself and after I rinsed myself off, I found myself standing face to face with Kyle. He opened his eyes slightly and we looked deep into each other’s eyes for what seemed like hours. My head began to swim as Kyle leaned forward until our lips met. My mind told me to stop this right now, but the rest of my body didn’t listen. I opened my lips and pushed my tongue into Kyle mouth, he responded in kind. Kyle brought his hands to my face and held me as we made out like two teenagers. I was holding onto his hips and I soon felt Kyle’s now hard manhood pushing against my stomach. My hard member was still contained in my underwear. We broke our kiss and against my better judgement, I slowly kissed my way down Kyle’s chest and stomach. His eyes were wide open now and I looked up at him as I licked the head of his magnificent cock. Kyle shuttered as I took him as deep as I could and began to bob up and down. I had finally pushed my underwear down to my knees and was stroking my dick as I worked his pole in my mouth. Kyle kept his hands on my head and our eyes remained looked on each other as Kyle panted, “oh shit.” As soon as his first rope of cum crossed my lips, my own cum exploded out of my cock and all over Kyle’s feet before the water rinsed it away. Kyle pulled me back to my feet and we shared another kiss.
Without saying a word, Kyle leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes. I turned the water off, and I grabbed a couple of towels, after I dried Kyle off, I dried myself. Kyle had still not moved away from the shower wall. I helped him out of the shower and into my bedroom and sat him on the edge of my bed. I opened my dresser to get him a pair of underwear to put on. Just as I turned back toward him, Kyle fell back onto my bed. I shook my head and chuckled, he was out for the night. I took one more look at his perfect naked body and pulled a blanket over him. I put on my underwear and grabbed another blanket and went to my couch to try to get some sleep.
