Rudy

As soon as I got back to my apartment after meeting Leo’s “girlfriend” I locked the door and headed straight to my bedroom. I threw myself on the bed and shut my phone off. Leo had already tried to call me three times. A few minutes later he was knocking on my door, I just couldn’t see him right now. My memories of Bo came flooding back, all the hiding our feelings when we were in public and how great he was when we were alone. I gave Bo a bit of a pass, we were kids in high school, but Leo and I weren’t kids anymore, we were supposed to be adults. I have really fallen for Leo, why the hell can’t he grow up and at least tell his friends and family about me? I understand the whole professional athlete being discreet thing and I don’t expect him to announce our relationship on national TV.

Thankfully, the next few weeks were extra busy at work, we had a couple deadlines we needed to meet so I had little time to think about it. Every night when I returned home, I would get a text from Leo, I started to text back a thousand times, but I just couldn’t send my reply. Every week when he slid those game tickets under my door, I thought I really should give him a chance to explain. I continued to watch every game and I of course was cheering the team on. I wasn’t sure, but every time I watched one of his games, I thought I would see him looking toward the section of seats where I normally sat when I attended a game. I was so happy for Leo when they won that last playoff game and were going to the Super Bowl. When I got home late from work the week after they knew they were going to play in the Super Bowl, I saw the envelope on the floor when I walked into my apartment. I opened the envelope and saw that he had five tickets for me, we had talked about my family coming to the game if the Bandits made it. As I stared at the tickets, it occurred to me how much he cared about me. I decided to go to the game and at least talk to him, plus it had been months since I had seen my family. I called dad and told him I was buying them all plane tickets to come to the game. I was looking forward to seeing everyone, but I was also looking forward to watching the game. Over the last few months, I somehow had become a football fan.

My sister thought it would be a good idea to get jerseys with Leo’s number, she had told me that I should have talked to him the day after I met Megan and dad told me the same. Deep down I knew they were probably right.

The game was very exciting, we knew it was going to come down to the last second. I had butterflies in my stomach when I saw Leo running onto the field to kick the game tying field goal. I knew he could do it. I gasped when the ball went through the holder’s hands and Leo ran after the ball, I was worried he was going to get hurt when that huge guy from the other team ran straight at him. Somehow, he threw the ball, and his teammate caught it and dived into the endzone. The entire stadium erupted in cheers, we immediately pulled out our field passes and made our way to the field, hopefully Leo would want to see me.

I was thrilled when he gave me a big hug and shocked when he introduced me to his parents as his boyfriend. I was even more surprised when he gave me that kiss as all the cameras were filming us. Leo ignored the cameras as I introduced my family to him, and he introduced his family to me.

His dad said, “Leo, you need to go be with your team.”

Leo agreed, he yelled, “go to Carlos’s, get us all a table, start a tab, I’m buying. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

Leo was soon surrounded by reporters and other fans. We made our way out of the stadium and drove to Carlos’s. Mario welcomed us as we walked in, I told him Leo would be joining us soon.

He smiled, “I was hoping he would make an appearance, I saved a table for you guys.” He gave me a wink and whispered, “I’m happy for both of you.” He had seen the kiss, and I noticed a few others in the bar whispering and talking as I walked by. I’m not sure if I was ready for my newfound fame.

We sat at the back table that Leo and I always used, Mario had pulled a few tables together so we could all have a seat. I was so happy that our families hit it off from the start, our dads were soon talking like old friends. When Carlos’s customers erupted in cheers, we knew that Leo had arrived. He made his way through the crowd and found us at our table. I had saved the seat next to me, he gave me another hug and again surprised me with a kiss. The crowd cheered again, and I am sure I blushed, but they had already seen the seen kiss on TV, so Leo wasn’t embarrassed at all. We had a few drinks and ordered our food. Leo got to know my family better and we made plans to meet the next day for brunch. We decided on brunch so we could all sleep in a little bit in the morning.

Our families headed to their hotel, Leo, and I went straight to his apartment.

He gave me a kiss, “I am so glad you came to the game, it really meant a lot to me.”

I smiled, “I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you the last few weeks, I just…”

He shook his head, “it’s ok, I completely understand. I probably would have done the same thing if I would have been in your shoes.”

He then proceeded to tell me about what Megan had done, then he went on to tell me about coming out to his parents, Mack and Will.

I chuckled, “wow you didn’t just open the door to the closet, you burst out waving the pride flag.”

He said, “I was completely miserable when you stopped talking to me, I knew it was time to be true to who I am. A gay kicker in the NFL, to hell with what anyone else thinks.”

I wrapped my arms around Leo, and we began to kiss and undress. Seconds later we were naked and, on the bed, sucking each other to complete hardness. I had so missed the taste of his precum, and he was filling my mouth with his sweet nectar. Before we got too carried away, we paused orally servicing each other for another tongue twisting mouth tango. Leo broke our kiss and began to lick his way down my neck. I was sure he left a hickey, but at this point, I didn’t care. He moved on to my sensitive nipples, also giving them a tender love bite. He continued on to my aching cock, sucking me to the root in one motion. I let out a deep exhale as he worked his magic on my pole. Before I was too far gone, I pushed Leo away and lifted my legs, he was soon giving my waiting hole the same treatment that he had given my cock with his tongue. I was soon begging Leo to fuck me, and he was more than happy to honor my request. I wrapped my arms around him as he slowly and sensuously pistoned in and out of my welcoming love tunnel. We weren’t in a hurry, our eyes were locked on each other as we peered into each other’s souls. Neither of us ever wanted this moment to end. As much fun as we had had in our time together, this time seemed like much more. It felt like we were becoming one. I kept my arms wrapped around his back as I locked my legs around his waist, I wasn’t going to let him get away again. I don’t know how long we kissed and fucked, but I soon could see the look in Leo’s eyes, he was getting close. He gave me a slight grin as panted, “I’m going to breed you.” He let out a loud groan as I felt his cock spasm inside me and filled me with his love juice.  We kissed as his breathing returned to normal and a grin crossed his face. He kept his eyes locked on me as he slowly pulled out and crawled on top of me, guiding my aching manhood into his waiting hole. He exhaled as he lowered himself onto me, I held onto his hips as he started to bounce up and down. His flaccid pole was slowly coming back to life with every bounce as my seed started to work its way to the surface. He tightened his ass muscles one last time and started to milk every last drop of cum from my spasming pole. I smiled as his rejuvenated cock dribbled another load of jizz across my stomach. Leo collapsed on top of me as we shared another deep passionate kiss. We didn’t even bother to clean up, we just wrapped our arms around each other and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, we both winced in pain when we moved, it felt as if the dried cum was pulling our skin off. We laughed as we got up and took a shower, this of course, led to another session of hot sex. After we showered, I checked my phone, I had a text from Zane.

“You lucky dog, he is a hottie.”

We both laughed as Leo powered his phone up and checked his texts, he had a lot more than me.

He tapped on the one from Casey, “congrats on a great game and everything else.”

I asked, “what’s that mean?”

Leo chuckled, “he’s talking about you.”

He opened the next one from Mack, “Well done my friend.”

He shrugged, “probably both the game and you.”

Leo was scrolling through many more from other casual acquaintances, He stopped when he saw Robbie’s name.

It simply said, “I am so proud of you.”

Leo looked at me and smiled, he had told me so much about Robbie, I knew how close they were. Leo laughed when he opened the next message, also for Robbie.

“Oh, the game was pretty good too.”

We scrolled through a few more and Leo decided to answer them later.

We finally dressed and met our families for brunch, Leo sisters and mine, immediately started teasing us about the hickeys on our necks, apparently, I had given Leo a little bite too. While I blushed a little, Leo just smiled as though he was proud. As we sat down to eat, my dad smiled at me and whispered, “see, I told you there something better coming for you.”

I smiled back, “I think you’re right.”

Leo’s mom was still a little quiet, but by the time we were dropping them off at the airport, she seemed to have come around and gave me a big hug. After we saw our families safely off, we headed back to Leo’s apartment.

He said, “I am so sorry about Megan and everything that happened the last few weeks.”

I shook my head, “no, I’m the one who should be sorry, I should have talked to you.”

Leo smiled, “I should have admitted my feelings as soon as we met, I can’t believe how happy I am now that all this is out in the open. I was scared to death that I had lost you, I never knew how much I cared for you until you weren’t talking to me. I love you.”

I felt a tear run down my cheek, “you love me?”

He nodded, “I love you, damn, I didn’t even plan to say that it just slipped out. That must mean it’s true if I can say that without even thinking.”

I wiped the tear away, “I love you too.” We kissed again and were both crying like a couple of babies.

I laughed, “ok, so now that all the mushy stuff is done, what do we do now?”

He kissed my cheek, “whatever we want to.”

The next day, Leo had an end of the season press conference, all the star players were due to talk to the journalists. The quarterback and defensive players all answered questions about the big plays of the game. When it came time for Leo to answer his questions, the reporters immediately started to ask about me.

He took a deep breath and said, “that has nothing to do with the game. Our defense held the Eagles to a field goal on their last possession, our offense drove down the field to get us in a position to tie the game. They deserve all the credit for that, Will and I went in to kick and we ended up with a busted play. Somehow, I was able to heave a desperation pass, and he caught the ball and fought to get to the endzone. That is what we should be talking about today, not about my personal life. Our team fought hard against a great opponent and came out on top, that’s the story.”

One reporter then did ask about the play, but as soon as he was done, the next one went back to asking about me. Leo shook his head and walked away, “if you have a real question about the game, let me know.”

The head coach then took the podium and finished the press conference. He also kept telling everyone to keep the questions about the game. When the final question was about having a gay player on his team, he rolled his eyes, “I don’t give a damn what my players do in their private life, as long as it is legal, all I care is that when Foxx kicks that ball, it goes through the uprights.”

With that Leo’s first season in the NFL came to an end, before too long the news moved on and some player was arrested for drunk driving or some other player was getting a divorce, and we were no longer the top news story. I was appreciative of Leo for not talking too much about me, although the good reporters were able to find out anything they wanted to know about me, it didn’t matter, I had nothing to hide.

My time in Sante Fe was coming to an end, about a month later I wrapped up my work in town. Since it was the off season for Leo, he came back to San Diego with me until he needed to be back for the start of team workouts in May. I got my next project, and I would be spending the next six to eight months in Denver. We took turns visiting each other on weekends until the football season started. The Bandits had another good season but didn’t get back to the Super Bowl. We were still splitting our time between San Diego and Sante Fe.

Leo called me just before May, I was in the home office for a while.

I answered my phone, “hey sexy, what’s up.”

He asked, “can you get a little time off the first weekend in June?”

I said, “yeah, probably, why, what’s going on?”

Leo said, “I just got a call from Robbie, he and Seth are getting married, he wants me to be his best man.”

I said, “that’s great, I’ll make sure I can get off.” I really did like Robbie and Seth. I wasn’t sure I would after hearing so much about Robbie and how close he and Leo were. The first time we met I quickly saw that I didn’t need to worry, not only were he and Seth clearly in love, but I could tell that the love Leo and Robbie shared was more like a love shared between brothers. Seth and I quickly bonded over the fact that we both understood their relationship.

As we drove to Waco for the wedding, I surprised Leo with the news that I was able to go remote with my job. As soon as we got back from the wedding, we started looking for a house to buy together. Leo was secure enough with the team that he was ready for something more permanent, to be honest, so was I. Of course, now that we had a house and saw how happy Robbie and Seth were, our own wedding was soon in the works. Our families and friends joined us in the backyard of our new home for a small ceremony.

We couldn’t stop there, we soon were talking about kids and started to investigate adoption. Of course, being the research nerd that I was, I came across the option of in vitro. When I first suggested it, I’m not sure Leo was fully on board. The more we talked and researched it, the more we liked the option. We found a lawyer and a suitable surrogate, she wanted nothing to do with the baby after it was born. She was simply a broke college student wanting to get her last couple of years of college paid for. After a background check of her health history, we signed a contract and Leo, and I gave our “samples” to the doctor. We agreed to use sperm from both of us and whatever the result, the baby would be ours. After a few tries, we got the good news that we were going to be dads. Per our contract, we were updated after every doctor appointment, and everything was going fine. After the last check up, we found out that two eggs were fertilized, and we were having twins. We were thrilled and overwhelmed at the same time. We quickly adjusted our plans and bought a second crib and all the other things that we would need for an additional baby.

The day finally arrived, and we were called to the hospital. We both paced the waiting room for a few hours waiting to meet our children. We both jumped as the door opened and a nurse smiled at us.

She said, “if you follow me, I will introduce you to your sons.”

Leo and I were grinning as the nurse handed each of us a beautiful baby boy. She gave us a quick lesson on holding and feeding a newborn and let us start to bond with our babies. We spent the night in the hospital with our boys, the nurse came in to finish the paperwork.

She said, “ok dads, we need to finish the birth certificates, have you decided on names yet?”

As we looked at the boys, it was clear to both of us that one of each of our little swimmers, had found an egg, Baby A looked exactly like Leo and Baby B was the spitting image of me.

Leo asked, “what do you think? Do you have a name you really like?”

We had made a list over the last few months but had not settled on anything definite.

I smiled, “I was thinking about keeping with tradition that our moms started, I always had a crush on Heath Ledger, do you like Heath?”

Leo chuckled, “I love Heath.”

I asked, “how about you, do you have name you like?”

He looked at the bundle in his hands, “would you be upset if I didn’t follow tradition?”

I asked, “what do you mean?”

Leo said, “instead of naming him after an actor, would you be upset if we named him Robbie?”

I gave Leo a kiss, “I wouldn’t be upset at all. Robbie Jackson Foxx and Heath Jackson Foxx it is.”

It was my idea to use my last name as the twins’ middle names, I thought Jackson sounded more like a middle name and we wanted them to have the same last name.

We took our boys home and started our life as a family. Our parents showed up a day later to meet their grandsons. They confirmed that Heath looked like me and Robbie looked like Leo, and even brought our baby pictures along to prove it. After a few days, our dads went back home, but our moms stayed for another week, to help us figure things out. Thankfully, it was the off season for Leo, and I was able to get paternity leave from work. We soon got used to dirty diapers and 3 am feedings. The boys were growing like weeds and were able to meet their cousins when Leo’s sisters brought their families to see them. My sister also announced that she and her boyfriend were getting married, so there may be more cousins in the near future. Heath and Robbie were soon accompanying me to all of Leo’s games, they soon were the stars of the players’ family box. All the other spouses were fussing over them at each game, and they became friends with their kids.

Leo did everything he could to keep them out of the spotlight. Other than to say they were doing well when a reporter asked about the boys, he would just move to the next question. He was also very protective of me. We were living our best life and couldn’t be happier.

Leo wants to tell the last part of our story, so I will turn things over to him.

Leo

It has been 15 years since “the kiss” and my first Super Bowl game. I tried my best to keep Rudy out of the spotlight, but the reporters always found a way to ask the question. I was starting to get frustrated with this until I got a call from Car Nassib, he was the first NFL player to come out while still a player, in 2021. After our talk and his support, I finally answered with a press release, of course with the approval of the Sante Fe Bandits.

“I am not the first gay player in the NFL and I am sure I will not be the last. There have probably been hundreds before me. Thank you to Carl Nassib for breaking the barrier for me, he proved that it does not matter if a player is straight or gay. I would like you all to judge me by my performance on the field and not my private life. I would like to thank the Bandits for their support and ask that you respect my privacy just as you do with the rest of my teammates.”

Addressing it head on seemed to work, there was a buzz for a few weeks and there were some that calling me a hero for coming out and others believed I should be thrown out of the league. Before long some other player did something to cause the next scandal, and the press moved on.

I’ve been to two more Super Bowls over the years, winning one and losing the other. Rudy and I have been married for 13 years already and Heath and Robbie are now 10. Every year they look more and more like Rudy and I and each definitely have their own personality. The ironic part of it is that Rudy’s mini-me, Heath, is turning into the jock, he is happiest with a ball in his hands. Robbie, my look-alike, is the studious, serious one, much like Rudy. We agreed as soon as they were born, to let them follow their own path, whether it was business like Rudy or athletics like me. Even though they are only 10, we couldn’t be more proud of them.

As the football season ended, I was coming to the end of my latest contract. Rudy and I talked about the possibility of moving to a new city if my contract wasn’t renewed. I already was very fortunate to have played this long for the same team. I went to talk to coach Edwards for my end of season interview.

He shook my hand, “I wanted to tell you that I never once in fifteen years regretting selecting you in the draft.”

I chuckled, “it sounds like you’re not going to offer me a new contract coach.”

He smiled, “I would Leo, but it’s not my call after today.”

I asked, “what do you mean?”

He said, “I am having a press conference with the owner this afternoon at 3, I am going to announce my retirement. I can’t speak for the new coach, whoever that will be.”

I thanked him and wished him well and went home to have another talk with Rudy. We had a long weekend scheduled to go visit my folks. On the long drive, we talked about me retiring as well. To be honest, I had been thinking about it for the last year. The boys were starting to get involved in several activities and I really wanted to be there for Heath’s games and Robbie’s speech contests and such. After we got to my parents’ house and we got caught up, mom and dad started spoiling the boys as always. I called my high school coach, Coach Porter, as I had always done whenever I returned home. I had always respected him and asked for his advice when making career decisions. We met at his house for a beer on his back patio. Rudy and I left the boys with my folks and drove to his house.

He led us to out back as he grabbed us each a beer, he said, “so I hear you will getting a new coach next year.”

I shrugged, “I guess so, if they offer me a new contract and if I decide to keep playing.”

I took a sip of his beer, “are you thinking of retiring?”

I nodded, “the thought has crossed my mind.”

He asked, “do you have a plan, if you do retire?”

I looked at Rudy, then back to coach, “not really.”

Coach Porter smiled, “would you like to coach high school football?”

I asked, “are you offering me a job?”

He chuckled, “no, but I just turned in my resignation too, I guess I have the retirement bug too. I can make phone call, if you would like to be the new head coach of the Westfield Bulldogs.”

Rudy and I had another long talk, he was able to do his job from anywhere. The boys weren’t old enough to be bothered by changing schools and I was ready for a change. We extended our stay for a few more days and by the time we left, we had put in an offer on a house, and I was hired by Westfield High as their new football coach. As soon as we got back to Sante Fe, I talked to the Bandit’s GM and announced my retirement and put our house up for sale. We moved back to Westfield at the end of May.

Heath and Robbie both signed up for little league baseball, Heath of course wanted to play, and Robbie just wanted to be with his brother and the new friends that he had already made. We went to all their games, Heath was playing well and Robbie was just having fun. We had a blast watching them and made friends with a lot of other parents.

Once school started, I was busy with the football team, I could tell I had a great group of kids. Coach Porter had always done a great job of developing the younger players, I was going to do everything I could to continue that practice.

As we came to our first game, I think I was more nervous about it than I was about playing in the Super Bowl. Once the game started, the nerves disappeared, and my guys played their hearts out and we walked away with a victory. In fact, we only lost one game in the rest of the regular season and now we were playing for the state championship, against the Hillsdale Cowboys. The same team that we beat my senior year, the rivalry had only intensified since my high school years. Their coach and I met at the center of the field as our teams warmed up before the game. It was the same man that coached against me in that game nearly twenty years ago.

He said, “you had a great year coach, good luck tonight.”

I shook his hand, “thanks coach, you guys look pretty good too.”

He smiled, “thanks, I knew what to expect against Coach Porter, I’m not sure what to expect against a Super Bowl champ.”

I returned his smile, “I’m just a high school coach tonight, just like you.”

We shook hands again and wished each other good luck as we went back to our teams. Just like all the games between Westfield and Hillsdale the game came down to the last minute. We had the ball at the fifty-yard line, I sent in the play, my quarterback handed the ball off. I was instantly transported back in time and saw myself handing that ball off to Kyle and him breaking through the line. My back was tripped up just short of the first down line. I looked at the clock, 4 seconds left in the game, and we were down by two points. A field goal would be about 48 yards from here, I quickly called our final timeout. I watched as Heath ran out on the field with water for the team, he had been our waterboy all year. He was so cute in his little team jersey, number 0.

My assistant coaches were standing beside me, I asked, “what do you think?”

They both shrugged, “we have to kick, right?”

I opened the mic on my headset, and looked up to the coach’s box, “what do the analytics say?”

Rudy was smiling down at me, “they say kick the field goal.”

I smiled as Robbie held his hand up with a thumbs up, he was just as cute in his Bulldogs polo shirt, just like Rudy, me and all the other coaches were wearing.

I grabbed my kicker’s facemask, “tell me you got this.”

He looked me in the eye, “I got this Uncle Leo… I mean coach.”

I hit his shoulder pads as he ran away, “I know you do Chase.”

I watched my nephew, the one that I had held for the first time on the day I was drafted to the NFL, run out on the field.

The announcer came over the speaker, “Coach Foxx is going to kick for the win. The kicker lines up, there’s the snap, the ball is down. The kick is…”

The End.
