≈ Appendix A: THE CUBE ≈

A final word from the Author

I don’t want to abuse my readers’ time, but this story got a success that went way beyond my expectations, and my readers truly deserve a praise. Multi-chapter novels are not that appealing to the readers; and getting, as an average, more than 2,000 readers per chapter (and counting), with an average rating of 9.7 was amazing for me.

I heartily thank you all for reading my story, casting your votes and giving your feedback writing comments or email. As always, a special thank you goes to Butch and Geoffrey Fox, who never failed to leave a comment and express their appreciation, and to our tireless Admin Bjorn for maintaining the excellent GayDemon site. But each one of you who came this far, reading my story to the very end, made me feel on cloud nine. Thank you so much!

~ The secrets of the C.U.B.E. ~

I’ve been told by some affectionate readers that what made this story special was the level of detail of the CUBE, the location where the action takes place. As a matter of fact, there was a whole lot of work in visualizing, creating and planning the CUBE. I laid down floor plans, with all the Streets, Avenues, apartments, venues and utilities; I even drew the layout of the standard residential unit, so as to better move the action from room to room. And I’ve also created many images with the help of the A.I., and now that the story is over, it’s a pity they just go wasted. So, here is what the CUBE looks like, floor by floor.

If some images are missing, please refresh the page,
or access the entire online folder clicking HERE (OneDrive) or HERE (GoogleDrive).

~ First Floor ~

This is the main floor, it holds most of the residential units and also several shops and firms, as well as the Entrance Hall and the Police Station.

Here is the floor plan: click on the image and zoom in at will to find the Delta-18 block, home of Kareem and Lance, or Monsieur D’Antin’s Atelier, or the ‘cursed’ block Omega-24.

And here are some views of the places you’ve read about in the story; each image comes with a description and can be clicked and zoomed-in for a better view.

~ Second Floor ~

This is the leisure floor, home of the many venues of the Cube; again, click on the floor plan and zoom in to find the Nebula Palace, the Stud Stable or the infamous Barren with its lowdown dives.

More views of the venues on the Second Floor.

~ Third Floor ~

The 3rd Floor is where the guests are moved to, when they grow too old to live an active life; the residential units, here, have a small garden and there are no venues that can disturb the elders’ peace. Also located on the 3rd Floor are the Hospital and the Graveyard.

~ Fourth Floor ~

This floor hosts all the services, including Boubaker’s Surveillance Center, Alastair’s Communication Center and other control rooms and departments. The ‘imperfect’ guests live here, either in the back of their workplace or in small apartments without any amenity. The only ‘venues’ of the 4th Floor are the Gathering Place (a bare square covered in concrete) and a couple shops selling low-quality stuff and food.

~ Fifth Floor ~

Last but not least, the Fifth Floor is where the richest and most powerful guests of the Cube live. The floor is very small, compared to the lower ones, and there are only a few large residential units, some taking an entire block, some other just half block. This is the only floor with a glass ceiling and a patch of real grass running all around the floor.

~ Underground (secret) Floor ~

The underground floor was the location of many crucial moments in the Cube’s history; there’s no floor plan, because there’s only one room containing a rickety desk and an old computer.
