The Interpreter

I am a freelance interpreter; it’s my prime means of income, you would have heard my voice a few times on voice-overs speaking the words of some politician, scientist, actors and sometimes ordinary person on radio or television, and sometimes I can be seen on screen, writing notes and whispering into people’s ears as I interpret the words from one language to another. Most of my work is done in soundproof booths at international conferences translation prepared speeches and hoping that the speaker doesn’t change the words they are speaking live.I also do translations of novels, and scientific texts. It’s a good means of income if sometimes tedious and boring, and I broadcasted as a freelance for Swiss Radio in four languages.I get to travel a lot around Europe and have had some really exciting things happen outside of my work, though sometimes they have happened during my work. These tales are from my memories of the fun I had when younger from1968 through to 1992 in all the different countries I travelled to and worked in, Enjoy and please let me know what you think.
