Beautiful Regress

I know most of you don’t like poetry. Problem is: I love writing it. So, here’s another one: it’s about the thoughts and feelings of one of two elderly men, who fall in love with each other, contrary to the general idea, that “falling in love” is only the prerogative of teens and youngsters. (With sincere thanks to F.E. Cooper for some adaptions in American slang. Really appreciate it, man!)

Let us be young again and

Unleash the free range colts of our souls

To let them frolic free

On the green meadows of love

That have been denied so long to them

Let us be butterflies again

Fluttering around each other in teasing ways

Over the fields of wild flowers,

Blossoming in the Spring’s abundance

After the gloom of long winter days

Let us be playful puppies again,

Rolling over the soft carpet bottom

One on top, then the other

Unaware of disappointments to come

There’s nothing to bother

Let us forget about our age

And submerge in youth’s warm waters,

Naked, joyous and full of desire

Let life be a nebulous dream again

And disillusions far from our minds

Suck in the glances from my

Staring, mystery-ridden dark-brown eyes

As I will drink the expressions

From your shining-blue mirrors of the soul

I’m here for you, without tricks or lies

Reconnoiter my naked skin

And then, let me take you in

There are no barriers left for you

I’ve become the child that I once was

Without reserve, because I trust you

Yes, I am that child again,

The wayward child, feeling neither shame nor fear

Useless limitations I can do without

A child that dreams his longings through life

So...just take me, I’m here!
