The Male Muse Review

Mark Alan is a photographer who loves shooting sexy men in erotic and fully nude sessions. He has been photographing male nudes over the decades and loves celebrating the beauty, power, and sensuality of men. He launched The Male Muse in January of 2023; it's now called The Male Muse Xclusive, and there have been some more changes, so it's time for a visit to see what's been going on. 

The men here are sexy and many are to be models I’ve never seen before, although I did find some gay porn stars including Brett Tyler and Vadim Romanov, but most of the models appear to be single-name amateur men. They are usually in good to great shape with athletic and gym-fit bodies, and while there are plenty of chiseled physiques, none of the men are overly muscled, nor did I see any full-on bodybuilders. You'll find some men are clean shaven while others are bearded, some have smooth bodies while others are hairy, and some are tattooed while others have no ink. There are Caucasian, Latin, and Black men here, and they appear to range throughout their twenties through their forties. Overall, the men are hot, and some are gorgeous.

You'll find lots of beautifully shot solos including sexy glamour pics, erotic nudes, solo masturbation and more, but while there are more solos, there's also some duos from kinky foot play and kissing to sucking and fucking. There are men wearing nothing but a towel, men in bondage, one recent shoot has a 43-year-old daddy posing in leather gear and then naked outdoors with a hard cock. Porn star Mika Ayden recently did a beautifully lit bathroom and shower session. There's a lot of variety, lots of teasing, and some very creative and enticing shots of partly dressed and naked men in all their glory.

The Male Muse has a focus on photography, so let’s start there. The main pictures can be found in date order in the Updates section with a few video updates mixed in; there are 235 picture sets found there. The photo shoots offer good quality digital stills sized from 1600x2000 to 1600x2400 at good quality. Some of these pictures may have artistic filters added or be in black and white, but most are standard color shots. It's worth mentioning that when a model has a new photo set, it's added at the top of a single long gallery on his page; if you keep scrolling down, you'll get to his older photos. You can save photos individually, but there's no slideshows or zip files; the image viewer, however, does allow you to move from picture to picture. The older pics are in another section we'll go into shortly.

There are also 58 exclusive videos in MP4 format; 38 are listed in After Dark XXX Videos, 28 are in Behind the Scenes, however eight videos are found in both sections. These vids are good quality; downloads are sized at 1920x1080 or you can stream the videos on your desktop and mobiles. The videos run from under two minutes to over 18, although the behind-the-scenes vids were 35 seconds to around a minute and a half, and many show the guy posing for photos. 

There's another section to explore - Series. The Series section is where you'll find pictures by categories. Junk Shots features cocks and balls; Fetish offers us gear, submission, pits, feet and sneakers, plus a few more kinks. Transfers brings the photographer’s Polaroid collection of male nudes from the early 2000s to the internet. After Dark features all the hardcore pics, cumshots, guys in jockstraps, and seems to also include all the pics from the Fetish section. Last is the Main Series, also broken into categories like Bodyscapes, Dancers, Leather & Lace, Inked and Experimental. There's more variation in picture sizes here, as you might expect. 

Members and non-members get access to a blog that features not only pictures, but the photographer talks about the guys and their photography sessions. It’s hot stuff. In a fairly recent post with Jack Bandit, the photographer writes "...he drops his underwear, showing off his perfect uncut tool and perky backside". Or about a shoot with a couple, "Cocks were rock hard and being worshiped, stoked, and deep throated before Michael flips Tim on his back to eat his hole". So definitely worth a read. Unfortunately the blog hasn't been updated in a few months, but hopefully now the site remodel is done, Mr. Alan will have time to start updating it again.

There’s one last section. Muses is where you'll find the 162 models who now appear on TheMaleMuse, and a number of the models have done more than one session with the photographer. Each model's page includes some info about him, his videos (listed with dates) and underneath is his gallery which shows all his photo shoots.

Let's talk about updates. The site has 277 updates listed in Updates, and 235 of these are picture updates. The photo updates are not dated, but they've added two photo sets in the past week. The videos are dated, and it appears a new video is added once a month. 

There are drawbacks and improvements. The model pages now have info about the guys, and the member area has been improved since our last visit. Pages load faster, which is great. It's still not that intuitive to use, however, the site now has more consistent sizes of preview thumbs in Updates, and while things could still be simplified, it's definitely a step in the right direction. I would love to see more videos, but The Male Muse Xclusive bills itself as a fine art photography site, so the 58 videos we get are a plus, and the monthly membership is still quite inexpensive. Finally, there’s no profile on Mark Alan himself which is unfortunate because I did want to know more about him.
